About House of Kaos
House of Kaos is a gothic event studio based in Newcastle upon Tyne, dedicated to turning nights out
into living, breathing stories. We create immersive dinners, themed balls and one‑off rituals that
feel like stepping into another realm – vivid, theatrical and unapologetically dark.
Our work sits somewhere between theatre, fine dining and fever dream. We build worlds, invite you in,
then let you write the rest of the story together with us.
Who we are
House of Kaos was founded by artists, hosts and horror‑loving mischief‑makers who were tired of
ordinary nights out. We wanted spaces where the strange felt celebrated, where you could dress
like your inner monster and be met with nods of recognition instead of side‑eye.
We are:
- Storytellers and scenographers who think in worlds, not just themes.
- Hosts who care deeply about comfort, access and consent as much as atmosphere.
- Collaborators with local venues, chefs, performers and makers across the North East.
Who is House of Kaos for?
Our worlds are for anyone who has ever felt a little too much for ordinary nights out:
- Outsiders, romantics, horror nerds and goths who want somewhere to dress up and feel at home.
- Queer ghouls, introverts, anxious extroverts and anyone who lives for strange, theatrical spaces.
- Friends, couples and found families celebrating milestones that deserve more than a standard function room.
- Brands, venues and organisations who want immersive experiences that feel cinematic instead of corporate.
If you love the idea of stepping into a story and staying there for the night, you’re one of ours.
What we create
Every event is built on the same three obsessions: narrative, detail and care. Whether it’s a
ticketed public feast or a private ritual, we design from the inside out – beginning with how we
want you to feel when you leave.
Immersive Worlds
We don’t do “themed decor”. We build environments with their own lore, logic and secrets:
resurrected ballrooms, haunted forests, underworld supper clubs and drowned courts of sirens.
Lighting, sound, set dressing and performer interactions are woven together so the world holds
from the moment you step through the door to the final toast.
Curated Chaos
Our events are wild, but never careless. Every twist – from the way a menu is revealed to when
a character appears at your table – is intentional. We design the arc of the night so it feels
like a story unfolding, not just vibes and a playlist.
Dark Beauty, Light Footprint
We prioritise reclaimed, recycled and upcycled materials, work with local suppliers wherever
possible and avoid real animal products. Our
Environmental & Ethical Policy
sets out how we do this in detail.
Inclusive Rituals
Kaos is for outsiders, introverts, vampy extroverts and everyone in between. We design with
access, comfort and identity in mind: flexible dress guidelines, content warnings where possible
and a zero‑tolerance stance on harassment or hate.
What makes us different
- We build stories, not just themes. Every event has an internal logic and arc – you’re stepping into a narrative, not a hashtag.
- Horror with a heart. We love the eerie and the grotesque, but we ground it in care, consent and psychological safety.
- Atmosphere over volume. Our nights are designed so you can actually talk, connect and savour the details – not just shout over a playlist.
- Hand‑made worlds. From hand‑built props to locally sourced feasts, we’d rather craft fewer, stranger things than mass‑produce anything.
Our promises
- Atmosphere first. If it doesn’t serve the story or the world, it doesn’t make it in.
- Everyone is a guest, not a prop. We never rely on humiliating or targeting individuals for entertainment.
- Consent and care, always. From how performers interact to how we handle photos, we design around safety and respect.
- Dress to slay, not to harm. Our dress code exists to deepen immersion, never to police bodies or identities.
The Coven
House of Kaos is powered by a small core team and a wider coven of collaborators – performers,
designers, technicians, photographers and culinary alchemists who drop in from the shadows when
the ritual requires them.
Sarah Marriott
Co‑Founder & Creative Director
The master of ceremonies behind House of Kaos – shaping narratives, worlds and wicked little
details. Equal parts host, producer and horror romantic.
Alex Boyes
Co‑Founder & Logistics Director
The architect of the unseen – timelines, technical flows and backstage calm. Alex keeps the
chaos precise so the worlds we build feel effortless from the guest side.
The wider coven
Performance & Production
A rotating cast of artists, actors, musicians and makers who help summon each world into being –
from set‑building and styling to on‑the‑night character work.
You
Co‑Conspirator
Every guest is part of the story. Your costume, your choices and your willingness to lean into
the strange are what turn our plans into living Kaos.
